HAPPY SPRING!

Hopefully everyone is enjoying our beautiful summer weather.  What happened to spring?? At least we are getting a head start on all our spring cleanup chores.  Do you have your checklist?  If not, just check our site for a Spring Cleanup Checklist, that might be of help.

Our spring market is still hot - strong demand is driving up prices, as buyers vie for the best deals, making it a seller's market.  Many of our listings are getting higher prices than expected and in a shorter time frame. And the forecast for the year is very positive as CMHC expects 9500 homes to change hands in Durham this year and will moderate to  8700 in 2011.  Income growth should go up by .6% this year and 1.6% in 2011, while home prices may increase by 5-6% this year in Durham, and moderate to 2% in 2011. Prices will level off in the fall but will not be contracting according to CMHC forecasts. Interest rates will increase in the fall but should not go beyond 2%, if that.  Canada is in the best position of the G7 countries, as far as post recession recovery - we are poised for great strides in the upcoming years.
